Blog-dammit

I am not going to start this post off with an apology for my lack of activity these past few weeks. In fact, I am just going to ignore that fact and pretend everything is normal – because it is, other than I have not been blogging. So, to catch up…

We spent three weeks at Kerri’s parents property in the foothills fixing up, and adding too, the trailer and truck for the upcoming 2016 travels (cellular booster antennae, airbags and new shocks on the truck, and so forth). I even got to play lumberjack and assist in the removal of some pesky tree limbs with a chainsaw. I wear my flannel with pride now. Much of our free time was spent meeting up with Kerri’s friends and eating way too many good meals with her parents. This amount of food is definitely having an impact on my belt-line.

In the end, Moose captured a total of 12 ticks by method of simply walking through the woods. After the first week I just had to stop allowing him outside. The tick population in California is now at risk of extinction thanks to Moose and my tweezers. I really hate ticks!

Thanksgiving week was spent at my family’s in the East Bay, moochdocking right there on the street in front of the house. My son flew out and my brothers and their families came out for an all out meet-n-greet of Kerri (and BBQ).Β  The week passed quickly with the running around of my 17 year old son to keep him occupied.

With our recent change of plans now set in stone, I had a flight out of Oakland (my third trip to the airport in 10 days) on the 5th of December to go reclaim Big Blue from Colorado so we stayed as near to the Bay Area as we could manage. This gave Kerri the opportunity to show me around her old stomping grounds, including a trip to the Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park (my 71st National Park). After a full month of socializing with family and friends, it was nice to finally have Kerri all to myself again, but it lasted only a few days before boarding a plane…

…to Colorado where I rescued Big Blue from storage where it has sat since April 7th, had lunch with my son, had pizza and a few beers with my Colorado buddies, then set out for the 1232 mile drive back to California to reunite with Kerri and the dogs who took the few days alone to move to Point Reyes.
