{"id":8278,"date":"2015-06-26T14:29:16","date_gmt":"2015-06-26T20:29:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/?p=8278"},"modified":"2019-11-13T09:00:33","modified_gmt":"2019-11-13T16:00:33","slug":"big-delta-state-historical-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/big-delta-state-historical-park\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Delta State Historical Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/dnr.alaska.gov\/parks\/units\/deltajct\/bigdelta.htm\">Big Delta State Historical Park<\/a> was an important crossroad for travelers, traders, and the military during the early 1900&#8217;s and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rika%27s_Landing_Roadhouse\">Rika&#8217;s Roadhouse<\/a> is the centerpiece of the park.<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, I knew nothing of the place until reviewing the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/0982310153\/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0982310153&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;tag=vantrampcom-20&amp;linkId=DSJ37E5AJWPVNTKE\">Traveler&#8217;s Guide to Alaskan Camping<\/a> which outright stated, &#8220;even if you are not going to camp here, this is a place you must stop&#8221;. So, with that endorsement it made the list for a stop at the least. Once we did make the stop, the calm quiet of &#8220;no-where Alaska&#8221; bribed us into staying two nights before moving onto Fairbanks.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_4643.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-8315 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_4643-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_4643\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_4643-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.van-tramp.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/IMG_4643-120x120.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Although the camping consisted of only a space in a gravel parking lot, camping so close to the old farm had it&#8217;s benefits.
