\"\"<\/a>Our final days in the UK were reserved for exploring the countryside before heading back to Dublin and the long journey home. We waved goodbye to the animals, loaded back into our complaining rental, and set out midday with a 4-hour drive along the southern coastline. We couldn’t sightsee much\u2014arrival was near sunset\u2014stopping only for travel food and a short walk in a spooky forest soon after. By 6pm we pulled into Kenmare. Just outside the village was our next bed and breakfast for two nights before the real adventure would begin.<\/p>\n

We arrived to a fright. The B&B operator pulled us aside and informed us she’d made a mistake. No room for us. Instead, she offered a small house closer to town. Whew. At least we’d have a place to sleep, and having it to ourselves for two nights was better than the original booking. We settled in and walked into town for dinner.<\/p>\n

The following morning we set out for a full day driving the Ring of Kerry\u2014a 180km circular route around the Iveragh Peninsula with tourist attractions at every turn. Viewpoints. Ruins. Huge estates with trails, gardens, and coffee shops. No matter the stop, the beauty of coastal Ireland is hard to beat. Green assaults you. Stacked rocks are constant. Long views of pastures and hedgerows stunning.<\/p>\n\n\t\t
