I rolled into Alamogordo, NM late this morning looking for access the the Lincoln National Forest so I could setup camp. The first road that I thought would allow me access was fenced and locked. Though I could hike or bike in I could not drive. I then accessed the park from the main highway, but that lead me too far away from town and my Verizon signal was lost. I turned around and went into Alamogordo to come up with a plan and happened upon the Alameda Park Zoo, which happens to be “the oldest zoo in the west”.<\/p>\n

The zoo had a total of 90 animals and spanned a full 5\/8 mile of pathway… basically, it was very small… but for the $2.50 admission it was money well spent. Nearly every other person in the zoo (about 20) had a small child with them. Obviously this zoo was a destination for toddlers and the parents looking to keep the toddler occupied before nap-time.\u00a0I recall doing the same with Timmy… we would go to SF or Oakland zoo almost every week when he was that age. Everything amazed him and he was easy to awe… it was some great times. Although I enjoyed the zoo, I actually miss Tim more now then before. I guess I miss Toddler-Timmy. Anyway, here are some pictures of the zoo animals (some turned out pretty well)<\/p>\n
