The cost of April 2014 1

The cost of April 2014

April was a big month, financially. I spent a lot more than I like to spend on van-living on a monthly basis. With only a glance it becomes obvious why I spent nearly double my norm; two big projects were completed in April. The first project was getting my South...

LED lights and a new drawer

Yep, I am finally getting with the 21st century. A smart-phone (which has proven to be not-so-smart after all) and now LED lights inside the van. I had already installed LED recessed lighting (above) a few months back, but now even the normal lamps have LED bulbs in them, making...

It needed more power, so I rewired it

Tim Allen’s iconic phrase, “so I rewired it” echoed in my thoughts as I made some more additions to the van interior. Previously, there has been only one shore-power outlet inside the van that was easy to access. The second (of two) outlet was under the bed near the batteries....

Easter at the Dog Park

I don’t get to get out too much with the two jobs, but Moose does not let me get away with forgetting his visits to the dog park. This time I remembered to bring my camera…

New plates from my new state

South Dakota… South Dakota. It will take a while to get accustomed to saying it, but today I climbed another step closer to South Dakotan-ship; new license plates and registration for both vehicles. The plates are even sequentially numbered, with the Datsun getting 1BN N38 and the van getting 1BN...

Big Blue version 3.0

In 2011 I rebuilt the interior of the van from it’s original configuration. Since then I have done minor tweaks, but have only threatened to complete another rebuild. I have been living in the van full-time since then, making it much more difficult to do any sort of rebuild. This...
