Big Cat Wildlife Sanctuary

We learned something new today, and that was that just down the road, less than 40 miles, is the oldest and largest nonprofit Sanctuary in the US dedicated exclusively to rescuing captive exotic and endangered large carnivores and it is open to the public! Even better, they are open until sunset 7 days a week. So, we wasted no time and jumped into the truck to go check it all out before the sun set, and it amazing…

Sadly, the rain came in causing us to flee back to the truck after only a half-hour. I’d have been happy to stay out even in the rain, but even the animals went in once it started coming down. So, a future visit is in order…
