Rocky Mtn Ntnl Park, Trail Ridge road

A simple half-day is all it takes to drive to the top of the world. Trail Ridge road is the “highest continuous motorway in the United States, with more than eight miles lying above 11,000 and a maximum elevation of 12,183” cutting through and over the Rocky Mountain National Park.

Timmy and I had nothing more to do on Sunday this past weekend so we took ourselves the minor road trip up to TRR… a place we had not gone since our first months in Colorado back in 2008. Timmy must have spent 2 hours hanging with the high-altitude chipmunks while I snapped away a few hundred pictures. These little guys are so accustomed to human feeding (which is extremely bad in every sense) they have no issues at all climbing right into your lap and/or hands to nibble at crumbs. I find it odd, that in one of the most obscure and out-of-the-way places, you find wild animals who know humans and our weaknesses so well.
