Ready to start my 2012 adventures

Just a few days away from driving off into the sunset again. I picked up some more solar panels for a total of 120 watts of incoming power to keep my batteries topped off. This became a necessity after a new laptop was purchased and it came with a 140w power supply, which is a significant increase over my other laptops. So with 120w of power, I return to a nearly 1-to-1 ratio the use vs recharge time needed scale.

The van upgrades have greatly improved my capabilities. Not only in power, but I now carry twice as much water on-board (up to 14 gallons), have room for my external generator, 5 additional gallons of gasoline, and even my spare tire (just in case). I even re-installed my microwave now that I am carrying the generator around. My only real issue left is to mount my propane tank on the exterior of the van as I am growing more an more uncomfortable carrying propane inside the van. I think I have it worked out; mounting it onto the ladder at the rear of the van. Now I need to run the gas lines underneath an inside (metal ones I assume), which I am not sure how to do… yet.

There is not points to locate on the mapHopefully, right around the start of the new year, I will have some clear weather to hop over the Rocky Mtns and get into the Moab, UT area. I scouted out a nice boondocking area last time I was nearby and plan to hang out there for a few days to a week. I can access Arches National Park via a dirt road for the days I want to explore, but mostly I’m looking to hang out and do nothing for a few days before heading south to Arizona for the winter. I will visit Nicole and Rod in Phoenix, but I’d like to head back into the southern portion of AZ for some hardcore boondocking and exploring.
