I think I lost my drive

Ugh! Although it is my 4th day in the van, it is my first day driving it alone since, well since my last long trip in the van all by myself which was probably March of this year. Since then, I have had a passenger in all the miles driven in June, July, and even Sept… but not today… it is like I lost my will to drive.

This morning I took my time making sure I packed everything up, refilled all the fuel, stocked up a few days of food, and was driving south on I-25 by 10am. But I struggled right out of the gate.Normally once you get me rolling I can stay in motion for days at a time. But today just felt sluggish. I did make it to my destination for the day; arriving in Parachute, CO (only 250 miles) at 4:30pm after snaking my way through a half-box of Wheat Thins (not reduced fat, thanks Mom!) and a full package of Red Vines (guilt has already set in and passed), but once I parked I got right into a home-cooked meal of chicken and rice… my favorite traveling hot food.

I will hit the hay early to get an hour on the road in the morning. That will put me in Grand Junction where I can sit for my day of work before I put some miles under my belt late in the day. (Ooo, there is a Harbor Freight right there… I know where I will be hanging out) I’m not sure where I will end up after that, but I doubt I will be doing much driving after dinner-time.

On a side note – It seems to be a normal thing now. I wasn’t sure the first time, or the second, but today it has been confirmed; every time I take I-70 there is some roll-over accident on this side of the Rocky’s. Today’s was a SUV who’d driver obviously didn’t know much about driving, rolled the truck and planted it on the shoulder nice and tore to pieces. From what I could tell as I drove past, everyone seemed unhurt… but there sure seem to be a lot of roll-overs on this stretch of road… just sayin’
