Boulder County, Caribou Ranch Open Space
Caribou Ranch is located between Nederland and the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. The 2,151 acres of Caribou Ranch offers a variety of landscapes to explore including wetlands, meadows, streams and forests between 8,300 and 10,000 feet in elevation.
The hike itself was short and sweet, with less than 3 miles traveled round trip, with the morning mountain air keeping me cool that majority of the way. The primary feature of the trail is the Delonde Homestead, which was used in the filming of the 1965 movie Stagecoach staring Bing Crosby. For me, this short hike was all about the wild flowers which dominated the landscape.
