Burning away the days in Havasu

havasu2012Since I arrived in the Havasu City area last year (Dec 30th, 2012), I’ve done little in terms of miles driven. Quite literally there at 60 miles on my trip odometer and I reset that when I refueled, 20 miles north of Havasu City.

I’ve kept it simple; camping in the desert these past two nights and settling into my ‘boondocking’ routine. I’ve gotten to sort out a few things on the van and at work. I’ve gotten a good every-other-day workout that I can do right inside the van (important on these cold days). I made sure to stock up on some lean foods so all I have is protein and complex-carbs for a few days before arriving back into civilization on the 2nd.

Even though last night was New Year’s, I went to bed well before midnight. I heard a few fireworks in the distance, but otherwise slept comfortably until 4am at which time I woke and could not go back to sleep… so I got to working, then drove a few miles to a Casino where I have parked to lay out the solar panels to restock my batteries. I promptly lost $40 to the slots (my annual limit for casino losses and it is only Jan 1st!) and returned to the van where I wait for late afternoon where I will likely drive down into Quartzite for another night’s sleep.
