Akaka Falls State Park

The 442 foot plunge of Akaka Falls is likely the biggest natural attraction on the island, and matched with the smallest parking lot it was a pain in the ass to see. Add to it the $5 “parking fee”, which of course you have to pay even if you do not get to park in the parking lot, it also felt as if I were getting ripped off at the same time. Nevertheless, I could not pass it by without shooting at least one photo (two actually) even if that meant navigating the masses who I also shared the trail with. A word of wisdom to anyone who might visit this park; do not follow the trail signage, instead go the opposite direction and get the the falls in 1/4 of the distance and no elevation change.
